The El Paso Mineral and Gem Society was organized in 1947. We are a Society of people with an interest of minerals and other geological materials. We encourage mineral study, collecting, displaying and fashioning what we find as a hobby.
The Society has monthly field trips that are conducted mostly in the New Mexico area but we also rock hound in Texas and Arizona. We encourage the spirit of exploration and the enjoyment of our great out doors.
Our Society also has a School Committee that teaches lapidary arts, silver smithing, faceting, casting and wire wrap. The classes are held at the Memorial Park Senior Center, 1800 Byron St., El Paso, TX. For School information call 915-562-4268
Our monthly meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of every month at 6:30 PM at 1800 Byron St., El Paso, TX. Dues are $10.00 per year (18 and over) $5.00 for junior membership.
We are a group of regular down to earth people commonly called rock hounds who commonly have a lot of fun enjoying rocks, nature and life.
The El Paso Mineral and Gem Society, Inc. is a non-profit organization. The purpose of this Society shall be to increase and disseminate knowledge about minerals and other geologic materials; to encourage mineral study, collecting and fashioning as a hobby; to conduct meeting, lectures, displays, field trips, and to sponsor shows for the general edification of the public.
